HIV/AIDS

Currently, 7.2 percent of Uganda’s population is living with HIV/AIDS. This amounts to an estimated 2 million people, which includes 220,000 children.

LUCOF supports female education programmes, OVC school support, support of teachers and parents. We liase bursaries and scholarships for poor youth,

CHILDREN

More than 250,000 children in Uganda have HIV/AIDS and estimated 62,000 people died from AIDS in 2011. Malaria kills nearly 70,000 to 100,000 children each year.

ENVIRONMENT

The National Forest Authority report showed that 90,000 hectares of forest are destroyed in Uganda annually. About 90% of the population relies on wood for energy.

The students and teachers of Wakatayi senior secondary are working happily with the books, calculators and geometry sets donated to them by the Wereldwiskunde Fonds Nederland and LUCOF Uganda. Teacher trips and students trips are beginning in May.
